Over het evenement
Johan Yssel (KU Leuven) & Emelie Maeyens (Drap)
Johan will dive into the captivating world of vines, exploring the use of organic biostimulants as a sustainable tool to boost organic wine production in Belgium, leading to quality wines without costing the earth. His talk also explores the effect of biostimulants on grape quality in his native South Africa & with a blend of science & passion for drinking wine, he hopes to convince you that the future of wine is rooted in our ability to harmonize with nature.
Emelie focusses on minimal intervention wines, made in Belgium. Dreaming of her own vineyards, she uses grapes from befriended wine makers, mainly from Belgium & Germany.

Every month we set the stage for a scientist & a producer to take you with them on a journey into the large world of fermentation. Each talk will highlight a different part of fermentation, from barrel ageing & cheese making to wines, ciders & vinegars.
During these TIN TALKS we provide some tasters for you to enjoy.
TIN TALKS are held in English.
TIN TALKS are curated by Tin Kocijan, PhD student at KU Leuven investigating the microbial ecology of barrel ageing of conventionally fermented beers in order to produce sour beers with a distinctive & layered flavour profile.
